Hey, the Eyeblast piece left out the bit about BHO's neighbor, "friend", campaign contributor and boardroom colleague, the Weatherman.
Obama's made a career limiting mistake running this early in his public life. He's going to win the nomination and he will lose to John McCain. After that he's finished as a national figure, unless of course, you continue to think of John Kerry as a "national figure".
O's problem is that he has no record -- he was and largely remains an unknown, although those that don't like his politics are rapidly filling in the blanks (as they have a right to do). He's an empty vessel into which people can pour what you want -- some pour "hope and change", goodness and light, others pour the content of the video. Message like those in the video will be effective just as the messages of the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth were effective against Kerry. These messages resonate because the emotions they evoke are real and because they are, in part and perhaps a large part, true.
BHO is a man of great talent and potential. Unfortunately, he's also ambitious and his ambition has gotten the better of him. Had he spent the next 10-15 years in pubic service doing what he says he's committed to doing he would have a track record upon which to run and a shield from the "slings and arrows" that are and will continue to come his way. The country needs a strong, charismatic, mature, substantive, center-left black leader. It could have been Obama, but it won't be because he will be "branded" in this election -- not by McCain, because his values don't permit it and he doesn't have to -- but Obama will be branded by the Eyeblasts of the world with material he, his wife and his associates have created for them. Following his defeat by McCain he will be damaged goods. Too bad for him, and probably, in the long run, too bad for the country.
Like many of his generation, he thinks too highly of himself and his reach for the brass ring is just a few years too early.
