Finally I will circumnavigate

Guys....I decided to circumnavigate, in say 23 years, I already have my mind set on 2 boats...what do you think??

For now is just a dream, but soon is a plan...I am quiting my wife, selling my boat and go.....I've had it...

These are the boats....both very good for the purpose...

THIS ONE:

A favorite for many here in Sailnet, let's see:

Its old as Colombo, (but I think its older)
Has a lot of fancy woodwork, (improves its sailing abilities a lot)
Full keel, (that is even better for sailing)
Looks classic, (actually it sets the line where classic begins)
Made in Asia, (everyone knows that here if a boat is not from a place we can't spell it's not good)
a reputable name (at least its a foreign name)
It's paintable to Patriotic Blue (its a fashion now)
has 2 masts (good to sail by power under bridges)
has a lot of chain and I can see at least 4 anchors (just in case the boat drags)
has a cockpit so small that a dwarf like me will feel safe in case a rogue wave comes over (everyone knos that is best)
The cockpit is not self bailing (so I can take a bath)
Its so small inside I will for sure feel safe (yes...In a knockroach I will not get tossed away)
has a lot of bookshelves (very important, makes it sail better)
a small companionway (ahhh the safety again)
I can see a VHF (don't need...I have a cell phone)
has one of those things Harold Loyd used in his movies to shout...(good to anounce myself in the fog, if I ever go to Massachussets)
no furler (I am a traditionalist, a hard job man)
no dousers (what the hell are those??)
a dinghy (looks like a heavy one too...in case I get hit by a storm in the dinghy)

who cares if it doesn't sail...at least..when the strom hits..I will survive...for I am shelled by a safe strongly built 10 foot thick hull....

OR...

THIS ONE...

Its white (easier to spot in a knockroach)
fast (so I can beat the hell of El Nino)
big (so I have more room for my socks and underwear)
sails without reefs (reefs are for wimps)
has a spade rudder and keel (now let's hear that argument again)
looks like H. Heffners bathroom inside (I don't know if this is good or bad...I've seen some of the latest bunnies, they're fake and ugly)
the kitchen is it the middle (very good to entertain visitors)
there is a photo in bad weather
has no wood inside (that's a problem, everyone knows wood inside, preferably complicated carvings, make a boat sail better).
no anchor (actually that keel is an anchor)
many many electronics (good, to keep Sailingdog busy)
the floor is shinny (good saves weight in mirrors)
the big round sail in the front has logos and stickers...(a plus..off course).

But I am worried with hitting fishing pots and whales with that keel...and it will break
The rudder will stall

I need your opinions....what shall I use to cross the world, at least 3 times....

Please let me have it...don't be shy.....

Plumper is on a distinguished road
Pirates won't rob you in boat "A" but you could outrun them in "B".

You forgot...my stick is bigger than yours!
One boat smells of sardines and sheep!

Shockwave, aka Alfa Romeo.

Well, she's taken out at least one Sydney - Hobart (line honours) . Built in Sydney by the way.

Add a teak deck, all timber interior, full keel, gaff rig, tan sails that sort of thing. good to go.

Hey , but what about we put a lateen rig into her ?

Worse than that Alex, Shockwave was built for a Kiwi.

I vote for the boat with the shinny floor. I wish I had waited longer for a boat with a shinny floor. I like shinny floors. Oooh, look, something shinny!

I drove by that boat every day this past winter on the way to my office, admiring her lines and past glory. Fast? Of course, but not without a score of energetic men onboard as crew.

Is that your idea of a circumnavigation in 24 years, when pushing 70 . . . perhaps 80?

I think the first boat is absolutely you! You can hunker down inside during a storm and not have to worry about sailing away from it fast. More time for great Portugese wine and you won't see the kid from hell for a longer time.
