Joel: Some background on Paul Potts. Apparently when he was singing (not sure if was his first appearance or the semi-final), his cell phone rang. Thankfully (his words) it was on vibrate. I believe he said one of his friends was calling to wish him luck.

I first heard about him when he appeared on the local (Toronto) CBC radio morning show. After the interview, Paul gave a live performance over the air. Simon Cowell signed him to a recording contract and Pott's CD One Chance ( Amazon.ca: One Chance: Paul Potts: Music ) reached gold or platinum sales in varying countries around the world.

BTW - here is another contestant from Britain's Got Talent who was also a finalist. Give the young lady a listen:
