Hey CP, congrats to you. I have to think that you either played Lacrosse, attended Syracuse or something.
Unfortunately, I have never seen the game played and don't know the first thing about it. Being a California boy I guess I just missed out. But I am happy for you....Really...I'm not just using this as a opportunity to say that the Rays currently have...

THE BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL!!!!

You're right SD, I guess I am hopeless.

Congrats!
CP...I was a player...big surprise to me was Hopkins beating Duke as I thought Duke/'cuse was gonna be the final. Seems to me there was a Syracuse player by the name of Jim Brown some time back that never amounted to much as a football player but was hell on wheels as a lax player.

Lacrosse,
A native american game...

take a baseball batting helmet, glue a wire cage to the front, take a hockey stick, sew a baseball glove to the end of it, take a cue ball... now play catch. Throw the ball @ 105 mph. Kinda like ice hockey without the fights, but with the monster hits. Pads? minimal, shoulder, like a punters, small...

I rode the bench in HS, but did go to Syracuse U. Football these days sucks. big. Wish we could return to the glory days of the late 50's with Mr. Brown, Ernie Davis or some of the 70's with Larry Csonka & Floyd Little and Art Monk or the 80's with Moose Johnston, Tim Green and Joe Morris, Or the 90's with McNabb, Marvin Harrison and Qadry Ismail

One of Mr. Browns more memorable quotes:
"I'd rather play lacrosse 6 days a week, and Football on Sunday."
Its been said that he was a MUCH better midfielder than he ever was as a running back. take a look at some of the old films of him as a RB... now thats just plain scary.

Cam, Glad for the hi-jack. Like I said before, this would be a good place for anyone to express their feeling about their favorite sport or team.
I should probably have called the thread something else though.

Damn those White Sox.They cleaned our clock last night.

Did you see that great Cubs rally a couple nights ago?

This could be the year of the underdogs.

No team in 108 years has gone from the worst team in baseball the previous season to the best this early until the Rays this year. Hope they can keep it up.
I haven't had this much fun since the San Francisco and Oakland year. (think earthquake)

Congrats on your team knothead - but lets see how long they can keep this up until the bosox do the inevitable.

On a different (but on topic) note . . . our local Newport college girls from Salve Regina were stomped by Boston University in the ICSA Women's National Championships this week.

Eight races in 420s within Narragansett Bay, concluded in the final day on Wednesday, during a fast moving front from the north. It produced some lively sailing conditions with 50 degree water temps and 20 knot winds. I just love to see women hiked over the rails . . . sorry for the hijack.

EDIT - Hmmm . . . for some reason, the last pics wouldn't show up. Too bad, some nice stern shots too. (g)

Great photo True,

I don't want to say this to loudly, But I have turned a Red Sox fan here in St Pete.
He has even agreed to wear a Rays cap the next time we go to see the Sox lose at the Trop.

I would never abandon my team - been going to Fenway games since I played in Little League.

But, there is some allure to that cap . . . can't put my finger on it though.
