Was a rough couple of day for the Rays in NY. (Boy, do I hate the Yankees)
They head off to Cleveland for the last four before the All Star break. The Indians aren't doing too well but I always hate playing a team who is in the midst of a protracted losing streak. Streaks always end at the most inopportune times.
oh well, too early to start worrying. The Rays still have the best record in Baseball and lead the division by two games.
It's been a magical year so far.

Anyone interested can still vote for the last couple of guys for the All Star teams.
May I selfishly suggest a few votes for the Ray's third baseman Evan Longoria? He's been awesome. And he seems like a good kid.

I am taking Mrs. Knothead out for a nice dinner for our 27th anniversary on the 18th which just happens to coincide with the first game after the break.
There's this nice little restaurant called The Batters Eye at Tropicana Field. Can you imagine any place more romantic?

Well...Pizza Hut delivers!

OK...the Rays have had their fun. Time for a typical Yank second half!

Cam, I figured that since I think about baseball during romance, I could think about romance during baseball.
Maybe I'll just keep it a secret from her until the big night.

Law of averages.
They are looking a lot like the Rays of old these last few days but that's baseball.
However, I think that they have proved that they are contenders. This first half hasn't been a fluke.
Lets see what happens with the next three games.

One week ago, 5 games up. 7 game winning streak. Best record in baseball.
Today. 1/2 game back. 7 game losing streak. And looking as bad as they ever have.

Ok, I'm trying to be philosophical about this. I figure that God is either trying to teach me to be a little less cocky when my team is winning, or to be a little more realistic in my expectations.

But in truth, most likely the real reason is that He's a Yankee or Red Sox fan and just likes to screw with me.

Heavy Sigh.

It's a long season.

Almost anything can happen, except that the Royals are not going to win the pennant.

Where would you rather be sitting, where you were last year? Umm, how'd you like to be Mile Ilyich, the owner of the Tigers and the second highest payroll in baseball right now? Heck, they could have finished at .500, where they're at now, on a Rays budget. Hmmm.

Of course you are right. I'm just feeling sorry for myself right now. After all, it is all about me isn't it?
