Once upon a life, before Sailnet

I must have done something with my time, but I really cant remember what..

As a relatively new member you would think I could recall what occupied my time before Sailnet screen time. I was never into cruising the net other then the odd occasion I needed to look for some information or buy something.
But my family has assured me I have digressed into and addiction of sorts with my computer friends here. I assure them I am sane and only learning things pertaining to sailing, most of the time that is as I have learned some new vernacular too be sure, but there complaints havent fallen on deaf ears..
I admit to the reclusiveness my time in my office seems to portray and have tried to reduce my log on time lately.

How ever there sill is the nagging question as to what the heck I did before with this time..I am not much of a reader, we dont have broadcast television and I have rarely sat and stared out the window or just chatted for long hours with my family..OK I have or have had hobbies or projects but nothing that I can add up on paper to balance the hours I have been accused of spending with you all now..

I think it is Jealousy pure and simple....I am having fun and their not.

This makes it so much easier as it makes it their problem and not mine..This could or will how ever possibly cause some friction within a marriage taking this line of defence so I will think better on it an not go there...bringing me back to my predicament as to what life was like before Sailnet.....

This is your problem. You are reclusive with your sailnet. The solution is to come out of the closet ...to buy a laptop and a Laz-y-Boy and join the rest of the family watching TV in the family room. You can then say things like "What's up with Paula Abdul" every now and then while surfing sailnet...and they will believe you are spending quality time with them.
As to the marriage...get in the habit of turning on Desparate Housewives and saying things like..."I don't see why everyone thinks Eva Longoria is hot. She looks a lot older than you honey!"
If you say that with sincerity...she'll probably get you a cup of coffee while you try to figure out just what Sway meant in his latest post!

A good addict will get his circle of friends hooked too. Of course that has nothing to do with the fact that Admtrox has joined and goes straight to sailnet as soon as she gets home from work.

I think sailnet should add Depends to their on-line store. That way the really hooked don't even have to take a potty break. I think Giu posted a picture of a sailnetter wearing diapers. Dedication!

Talking

You probably had a real life before Sailnet, I know I did. Do you find yourself sneaking off to log on when your wife is not looking? That's the real advantage of a wireless laptop in the basement. I know of what I speak.

Lol - I sneak in a sailnet session while at work if I think nobody can see it, almost like surreptitiously calling up porn! Luckily I can bill my client for time spent sailnetting.

(edit, addendum) - actually, to be frank, I tell my customer that I do some internet work on a professional forum and this one, and add 1 hour of work a day to make up for that time. I do this upfront and they have never had a problem, although one bank actually had the IT department check my traffic amounts to check up on me.

There was life before Sailnet???? My wife keeps saying something about being on the internet or something but I just tell her to be quiet I'm busy reading. I have noticed that it's been quiet in the house since the kids left.

I had a shinny hull and nice looking teak before Sailnet. Now I just kick the big patches of moss off when we go out on the weekends and wish I had an air card on my laptop.

Stillraining and ALL sailntet members.

If you find that you are spending too much time here, there is a quick fix. Simply glance at this revolting, nauseas picture for a brief moment and you will find it hard to return for a while. You may even find it hard to concentrate on anything. You will spend the next few hours cleaning vomit off of your keyboard and will suddenly feel better about yourself too. Why feel better than yourself? Because you will always remember that it could be worse. Your beer gut and hairline really is better than what you thought:

Everytiume I post this pic, membership here falls in half. Luckily, I guess, only half the members come to Off Topic. It allows me and the other moderators to take some time off (kinda like when DJ's play Stairway to Heaven... they don't like it, they just have to take a crap). Seeing this picture often brings out that same spincter response in the members here too.
