What branch of the service were you or are you in?

Thinking of Memorial Day I'm wonder what branch of the service our members were or are in? I was in the Army during the Vietnam era.

Drafted into the Army. Following training, was assigned to the last Smoke Generating Company. Spent my last 18 mos as a WAC, due to a paperwork snafu. They assigned me instead of attaching me.

US Navy, started in the nuclear engineering program as a ET - got bronchitis on the dark side - was kicked out of the program. Became a sonar technician, and served onboard the USS Seahorse and USS Minneapolis-St Paul (SSNs), as well as a stint as a Naval Warfare instructor in Norfolk.....both a shellback and blue nose. Most interesting aspect was that I have actually walked on the ice at the North Pole ... 8 years was all I did as better opportunities existed in the civilian sector....

Retired after 20 years and 3 days in the United States Air Force. The best part is I got to see so much of the world and do things others could only read about and I wouldn't trade my experiences for any others in the world.

Portuguese Army, 7th Cavalery, M-48 Attack Tank Battalion.

(they forced me to it...but eneded up becoming a man thanks to it)...

A few months ago, while driving in the Country I found what was once my tank...now a "statue" in front of a Cavalery base. The Army got rid of all except this one...curious...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
