Sorry to hear, and yeah - I agree with USP, usually its a wash. IF the unit was powered off at the time, you may be able to dry it out, but if it was powered on - no such luck it is most likely fried.
On the boat - I use a Polariod compact camera which sells at target for $89. $21 for the 2 gig SD card, and for under $130 - a disposable camera of sorts. I just got this and what I used for the snaps for the bleeding tutorial and I have been fairly impressed with picture quality although I do prefer my Canon for the interchangeable lens and finer control.
