The reason Sailnet is so slow.......

I spent the morning hacking in to Sailnet's server, instead of replacing corroded pipe in the bathroom, and here's what I found! Yes, its a section of internet pipeline at Sailnet.

And just look how clogged up it is.

You know what that is in there? I'll tell you.....Its long political rants, freak religious outbursts, barbecue residue, and photoshopped images of ugly sailors!!!!!

I get the off-topic metaphor BF, but I still think that's your regurgitated burrito from last night.

Can you believe the idiot that put that thing in my bathroom? How long have non-conductive nipples been around? Geez. Thats actually hard corrosion.

No! I installed a filter system in the kitchen and we don't drink out of the tap in the bathroom. The owner before me just didn't know what he was doing. And what's even worse is that the inspectors don't even check for this kind of stuff. The last owner did a remodel of the kitchen and bath, but when I think he saw what he was up against with the pipes, he just decided to leave them. There is copper from the main to the walls(under the house), but someone left the galv. in the walls, so then it hooks straight into the bronze fittings which causes the corrosion.(IIRC). So there is supposed to be a 6 inch non-conductive nipple in between. I hope there are no other spots, but I may even have lead pipe underground. Who knows!

Hey don't laugh. They are switching to flexible plastic tubing for plumbing now. Your house may be ahead of its time.

I had the opposite problem when expanding and upgrading the fixture in my baths and kitchen. Every sink, shower stall and tub drain in the house had a cast bronze drum trap - linked to 2" & 3" copper drain/vent pipes. There are hundreds of feet of 1/2" copper supply pipe and all copper 4" sanitary drain piping with cast bronze toilet flanges.

Since I was using PVC drain/vent piping and some PEX supply lines when relocating most plumbing fixtures, adapters were a PITA to install. But, at least the pipe cores were clean.

I do sympathize with you though. Finding galvanized supply pipe is one of a home-owner's worse nightmares.
