Please, before someone drives my friend TJ crazy:

1) If having a flat screen TV on the bulkhead makes one less sailor..THEN I AM NOT A SAILOR, as my TV is bigger than TJ's..and mine never leaves the boat. (so who here at sailnet dares say I am not a sailor??)

2) The paper plates are something I really endorse:

a) Lady TJ used the paper plates so I would not have to work and could enjoy myself, as that morning, after an EXCELLENT breakfast cooked by TJ, and served in proper plates I offered and did the dishes...a task I called upon myself that day.
b) paper plates are biodegradable, and do not polute marine environment
c) they are ligh..a good thing in a sailboat

3) the bronze rhinos decorate the marina, (not a property of TJ, therefore not his fault they are there), and symbolyze power and achievement..better than many modern crap statues I've seen scattered around the US, that don't mean xxx, specially around the NY city area..

4) Sailaway's hat, is a symbol of something he told me...he layed the hat flat on a surface and the thing moved on its own....I did not dare touch it with fear of some disease...

Now...let's all be nice...TJ invited me and I had one of the best times of my life amomg good true friends....and yes..if you use ear plugs SA is an extremely good guy..he just never stops talking...and allways pulls the wrong line...which was funny...

I don't have much time, but I loved the sail to Suckandtuck, loved the BBQ, the lunch ans especially Lady TJ's sandwiches...man..she could make a carrer with those...

TJ has a very good boat, that sails very well (I had allready sailed in other Beneteau 361s before, and liked the behave of these boats in fresh water (that was a new to me). These boats seem just right for that lake...

Thank you once again, Tim...

Well there you have it, Alex saying Bendy 361's are just right for lake sailing while watching TV and eating off paper plates.
Next week he will move to Texas and visit IHOP's for breakfast while wearing a self animated hat that fixes rudders while enjoying BBQ from a multi- grill monohull.

And loving every minute of it. I don't even ride roller coasters because they scare me. This is going to be 48 hours of me making sure I take my Valium and heart meds.

I get two days of screaming, you get a life time supply of photo's to photo-shop of a tough former Marine and USN retiree looking for a flat spot, while my wife points at me and laughs.

In all honesty, I'm hoping to get used to speeds over 12 kts, the one time I approached that on my boat all the wind and water noise concerned me so I headed up. I sail conservatively and I'm hoping your boat will break me of that habit at least when I'm single handing in a good breeze.
I broke 8 knts on Sunday with 14kts true wind, wanted to fall off and speed up but was constrained by depth to maintain heading.

Ask Giulietta to hold some sugar on at least one of those rolls, I'm sugar free (diabetic type ii). If I eat no sugar in my food I have room in my diet for important things like rum and wine.

On the subject of TVs: I guess there's nothing quite like sitting at a peaceful anchorage with the stars out up above and the sound of the waves lapping against the hull.. (sigh)

..but I gues you'll miss all that whilst watching "Neighbours" or "The Oprah Winfrey Show"!!!

Hey Giu, we've seen that pic before... CLEAN YOUR BUTT BEFORE AIRING IT IN PUBLIC next time huh?!?

(Seriously, though - I'm jealous, okay?? The only way our Hartley would do 15kts is if were were rammed up the tail by a stinkpot. )

It should be noted that it would be hard to find a more gracious host than Sailortjk1 and the lovely Julie. Aside from spoiling us rotten, Captain Tim managed to show great aplomb whilst his weekend interlopers instructed him how his boat should really be sailed, readjusted his rigging to suit our demands, ate all of his food as well as some we're not really sure whom was the original purchaser of and then, when most reasonable people would be fast asleep, decided that it was imperative, immediately imperative, that we disassemble the greater portions of his sternsheets for an inspection and adjustment of the steering quadrant. That the master of the vessel was able to greet each and every fresh depradation with sanguinity was as remarkable as the fact that his wife never got around to asking, "who the hell are these guy's?". Tim even managed to only mention my wife's kitchen one time and timed that one like a rapier thrust that left me completely in irons!

It was an added pleasure to meet Chris, Jamie, and Eileen. Eileen can be forgiven for wondering about the sanity of those who put to sea with people they know merely from the internet. Likewise she could hardly know that sanity and sailnet AFOC's rarely collide within the same sentence. I think the fact that Tim and Julie seemed to be acting in loco parentis for us was reassuring.

That the wind was fickle was meaningless. The great camaraderie accompanied by, in turn, bratwurst and fantasticly marinated chicken breasts swept all before it. bestfriend is entirely correct in that this truly is the best of sailnet; the making of genuine friendships.
