Southwest Michigan Invaded by the Portuguese

As many of you already know, Julie and I had the pleasure of having Alex and Sway on board for the day on Saturday. In the evening we were joined by Captain Rizzo a.k.a. Chris and his family; Wife Eileen and Son Jamie, a good time was shared by all.

The following is a photo essay of the day’s events. (Sorry, Its a long Post)

Alex flew into O’Hare and was supposed to land at 9:30, of course he was delayed and actually arrived at 10:40. We picked up Julie and drove to the boat late Friday night arriving at 2:30AM Saturday. Sway than arrived on Saturday morning at 9:00AM (Central Time or 10:00 Eastern).

We left the docks shortly thereafter, winds were light and variable, we sailed when we could and motored when we had to. Our destination was for the town of Saugatuck on Lake Kalamazoo about 8 Nautical Miles to the South.

Captain Rizzo a.k.a. Chris and his lovely wife Eileen.
Right after this, Alex decided to work on my steering gear, thanks Alex.
After about 6 hours of sleep we were headed back to O'Hare for Alex's early morning departure.
Our day ended way too soon.
What a great day it was.

I am currently waiting for a couple of videos to be processed.
I will add those when they are available.

Thanks everybody,
Tim

Things like that and getting to talk to Simon on the phone today. Friends for life, not just online, but in real life. To those of you that are able to go the extra mile, thanks, I wish we all could be there!

Nice post, SailorTJK. It looks like you guys had great weather and a great time. With the exception of Sailaway, you make for a very photogenic crew. Sailaway, on the other hand, kind of scares me, what with that Bowie knife and all.

Beautiful cruising grounds. And nice grill(s) too!!

Nice post, but here in Jersey we use paper plates for family and plastic for company.

Interesting there were no shots of their escapades in Saugatuck. Trying to hide something?

Thanks for the post and photos... Julie should be sainted for marrying you.....or does that mean she's a martyr.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Agreed. Nice post.

.. but, forget the Rhino, I couldn't help noticing: You have a flat-panel TV mounted in the forward bulkhead??

What I'd like to know... Exactly how much sailing do you do??
