Please let my wife do loads of work...she's there to experience ocean sailing if the wind allows it, and you have to concentrate on the rum rationing with Alex, who really does do as little as possible when he's got crew that is happy to sail his hotrod.
Just brace yourself before attempting to pull up your pants. Trust me on this. A minor concussion can ruin lunch.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Chuck,
Remember when the guy's in Top Gun got to Miramar NAS and were looking about at their fellow classmates? "We're gonna have fun", I believe was the reaction. That's you guys. That the owner of the boat thinks he's an Israeli fighter pilot is both the good news and the bad news. You'll have no regrets at canning Cancun. Lots of people go to Portugal; very few go there with the knowledge that they have a reliable friend there that they've never met. You do. If you get Alex to act serious about anything other than a boat let us know!

You won't even have to leave the harbor to have fun. This trip, even while screaming, is full of laughs. Just remember, when Alex says JUMP, he expects you to jump.
Have a great trip. Sleep as much as you can on the plane, because you don't get to when you get there! Tylenol PM, alcohol, sleep. Works every time. Saved my life last year.
didn't get to say "toodle pip" but look forward to reading the post instalment.
