Tv

To be honest this is more of an inquiry into different cultures than it is into television viewing habits but I'd be interested in the feedback.

If you were to head off on your boat what programmes, if any, would you miss ? Could you live without the idiot box ?

I particularly like crime fiction. The Brits and for some strange reason the Scandinavians seem to do it best.

Some quirky British stuff : Dr Who, Black Books, Red Dwarf, The Fast Show. (not all current productions unfortunately). Oh yes, Top Gear.

In the past have enjoyed Canadian comedy programmes but can't think of names.

Most of the stuff I like I could get on DVD so I guess I could happily live without TV as such.

What about you ?

There's nothing on TV I'd miss. I rarely watch it -- grew-up without one so it's not part of my culture.

I would miss the radio show "Prairie Home Companion" -- to me the only redeeming thing about National Public Radio. We listen at home on Saturday evenings, or out on the boat. I guess we'd have to roam beyond the boarders of the U.S, before we'd lose reception.

I've seen an occasional "Brit-wit" comedy and they are indeed very humourous. Some of the Masterpiece Theaters also quite good.

I can only take the low-brow position and mention Green Bay Packer football. There is no high-brow position on the topic of television. (g)

John,
I'm sitting here listening to PHC right now in Sydney Australia courtesy of the good old WWW. A true gem. I never miss it and figure I could download many an hour of archives to keep me happy if I'm out of range. thanks for reminding me I hadn't listened to last weeks show.
Cheers
