Go to a gun show in the USA where there are piles of guns and gun crime is near zero, the exact opposite result from the one preached by the gun banners.
Take a look at Thailand in your example. It's very difficult to get a carry permit their and their firearm homicide rate is more than ten times that of the U.S. Now take a look at Switzerland, where gun ownership is practically mandatory because of the large citizen militia and you have gun crime homicide rates similar to Canada.
