erps will become famous soon enough
Some countries have more crime, including gun crimes, than others because they have more criminals.

Go to a gun show in the USA where there are piles of guns and gun crime is near zero, the exact opposite result from the one preached by the gun banners.

Take a look at Thailand in your example. It's very difficult to get a carry permit their and their firearm homicide rate is more than ten times that of the U.S. Now take a look at Switzerland, where gun ownership is practically mandatory because of the large citizen militia and you have gun crime homicide rates similar to Canada.
The gun policy in Switzerland is unique in Europe. The personal weapon of militia personnel is kept at home as part of the military obligations. This, in addition to liberal gun laws and strong shooting traditions, has led to a very high gun count per capita. Switzerland has one of the highest gun ownership rates in the world, but also one of the lowest firearm related crime rates in the world.
It's not the guns. It's the idiots holding them.

I agree with Ray. Some countries just have more criminals.

Switzerland is an armed camp and I'm not surprised by the low gun related fatality rate. It's a different mentality there. The methodical Swiss are simply prepared for hostilities.
I spent two and a half years in Israel and it took me a while to get use to seeing bikini clad hotties running around on the beach carrying Uzi's. The locals pay no attention. Guns in Israel, of course, is about survival.

It's really about the person on the operator end of a gun.
