Free, is the heart, that lives not, in fear.
Full, is the spirit, that thinks not, of falling.
True, is the soul, that hesitates not, to give.
Alive, is the one, that believes, in love. JCP
In order for PC to be out of control, means that there were some controlling influences on it in the first place. But seeing that the academics that created PC did not really understand what they were doing and thus failed to place any controlling strictures on PC. And without those strictures, PC is growing like weeds and crab-grass.
I hope that I wasn't too niggardly in explaining this factor.
Niggardly means miserly or giving barely enough and is not the infamous "N" word.

I don't get it. I often don't get it. Either I'm lacking in common sense, or somebody else is. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I recall it:
The word "black," to refer to individuals of African (usually) descent was demanded by the bla... uh, no... African-American? "community," to replace the "n-word" and the "c-word" that were found to be so objectionable at the time. (The c-word has pretty much been forgotten by history. The n-word still is regarded as unacceptable--unless you're the right skin colour and "singing" the right kind of "music." Or you're Hizzoner Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Or... oh, never mind.) (Personally, I thought the idea silly at the time. Certainly not all people of African descent are dark enough to be even remotely "black," and, while I'm no expert on the matter, I'm pretty damn sure not all really dark-skinned people are of African descent.)
Then it was demanded by the African-American "community" that the word "black" no longer be used to refer to refer to people of African (usually) descent, but that "African-American" be used. (This has led to such silliness as non-Americans being referred-to in the media as "African-Americans." Never mind.) So now, the word "black" should no longer have any association with... uh... hell, I dunno anymore .
So what're we to do about the accounting term "in the black" (which is actually good, but is probably believed by the ignorant to be bad)? What about "black eye" (which I'm certain has been used to describe a "shiner" for far longer than it has... people of colour)? (Is that term still ok?) What about "coffee, black" and "black tea?" Do we have to go back and expunge history texts of all references to "Black Tuesday?" What about the old slogan "Black Is Beautiful?" (Which, I might note, it sure can be. For example: "Little black dress.") Will the Rolling Stones' recording "Black Is Black" be banished from record sellers' shelves? When somebody faints, or a reasonable facsimile thereof, will it be regarded as a faux pas to say they "blacked out?" What will movie folk replace "fade to black" with? Whither the term "black and blue," to refer to really bad brusing? What about the drink "black & tan?"
And what will the African-American "community" do when "they" tire of being referred-to as "African-Americans?"
Jim
