Unfortunately the Brits are known for a certain level of raucous behavior around the world. I've seen it in seaman's clubs all over the world. Certainly not all Brits or even a majority, but a significant number so as to be able to say, "another Brit acting up".

What is absolutely remarkable is the lack of admission of responsibility as if the old, I was drunk, excuse still carries any weight-in the Emirates or anywhere else for that matter. Having been not only to the Emirates but most of the rest of the Middle Eastern countries I have only one thought, "What're you? Nuts?" You're in their country, babycakes, and I know you were warned. Everybody is warned. The only truly shocking thing is that the police officer gave them a warning. That did not happen in my day.

The companion article is instructive.
