Have to agree with you there... most of the cars today have little or no personality to them... many look very similar to every other car out there...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Great one, Pappy.

The saddest part is, I owned some of those cars, like the 40 Ford (my first car), the 49 Merc, and the 57 Ford Skyliner with the retractable hardtop. (What a nightmare!)

Pictures from the old Carlsbad Raceway brought back a memory or two also.

Wish I'd been able to hang on to some of those cars, but what the heck? We bought and sold early model Fords and Chevy's for $10-200 bucks. Chrysler products went even cheaper.

Of all the cars I wish I still owned was my 57 T-Bird with the factory Paxton supercharger parked on the 312 Interceptor engine. It was scary fast.

A buddy of mine has hung onto another classic--A 57 Studebaker Golden Hawk. That's another scary fast car that didn't stop or turn very well at high speed.

Oh, well. It was still a fun trip...

I have owned some and still own one. We have a drive in movie up by Bellingham that's still open. I can still get a cherry coke or a real malt, in Port Townsend. There's still a bunch of these old rods running around up in my neck of the woods so it ain't dead quite yet. I'm an old fart that grew up during those days and remember hearing that music on the radio, my kids sometimes tease me about it.

Pretty good memory trip but they missed both of mine,a 59 Fury ragtop with the nicest set of fins out there. And a 60 Poncho safari (wagon) with a big old 389 that could smoke them old 8.00 14 firestones. I can't belive we survived those skinny old roads on those skinny old tires, drum brakes that were gone after 1, 60-0 and suspensions that floated along with out transmitting a hint aboutthe road underneath. Art.
