The Associated Press: LA blocks new fast-food outlets from poor areas


For those who thought the smoking bans we're going to be the end of it, here's the next nanny state move to protect you by deciding where your going to be allowed to eat. I'm sure no one is going to see this as an opportunity to have they're restaurants favored and they're compition penelized.

Not to be outdone - but Toronto has just hired a bunch of people to do a shade audit. At first I thought OK, the building boom of condos has created a problem of neighbours being shaded by the new construction.

Sorry, a mistake. The shade audit will be looking at public places in Toronto (e.g. school yards, parks, etc.) to make sure the little kiddies and their parents don't get too much sun. Remember, this is Toronto and not Los Angeles.
