Last evening while knocking about on the net I stumbled across a New Jersey rock outfit "The Gaslight Anthem."
If you like your music with a raw edge give them a listen. They are very good indeed and Wombat reckons they will be huge. That said I confess to being a big fan of the NJ music scene in particular Southside Johnny and his Asbury Jukes. These guys have the feel but in a harder edgier rock manner.
But here's the thing.
This morning I find out that they played Sydney, in a pub not a 15 minute drive from Wombat Manor, last night.

I also hear some "Bruce" in there music. When I was in Amsterdam and asked where I was from, upon saying "New Jersey" they would ask say Bon Jove. It was a white lie but we were all happy. (g)

Tony Orlando stand in and Burt Reynold's stunt double.
Murphy says you'd find out about them playing next town over only after it happens. Look like an interesting band...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Disco rules! Rock and roll sucks! Disco rules! And that's all I have to say!
Hog's tellin' porkies !! A swine of your erudition could not possible approve of disco not to mention how much white suits and platform shoes would offend your sensibilities.
Freesail - I know that everyone gives NJ a hard time but while I've never been there I'll forgive the place anything just for having given the world Southside, Steve van Zandt, Bruce, The Delevantes and now the Anthem. Not so sure about Bon Jovi but you can't have everything.
Changing the name to Wombat's Rules
and D still Sux. Not (though I believe that there is a copy of Boz Scaggs Silk Degrees somewhere in my vinyl collection. )

Sounds like some good Jersey road music-the type that's best played in a vehicle designed for rapid transit accomplishing it's design purpose in the middle of the night on an endless interstate.
I'm afraid I've fallen in amidst the great unwashed what with all this talk of New Jersey music and not a mention of the most enduring musician from the state, Frank Sinatra. (g)
