"Ignore Power" Points?

I would like to formally suggest that Sailnet add "Ignore Power" Points to the site, in the same way the "rep power" points are. I strongly believe this could add so much value to the site.

Mods, please bring this up at your next meeting.

Sounds like a good idea. BTW, what does Rep Power represents? How is it gained and what does it allow one to do or not?

If we add ignore power points, and someone has accumulated a high number of said points, then what ever he/she post would be ignored.

This is nothing about slamming. In fact, this is more about respecting the wishes of the OP to IGNORE whatever he or she has written/posted.

Let me be clear... this is not about ignoring posts of a particular member (usually democrats) (did I just type that?)... it has everything to do with not paying attention...actively...to particular threads which have been described as "Please Ignore" in one way or another.

I offer the following challenge to those interested.

How do we quantify the quality of an Ignore?

A weekly post? Daily? Monthly? re-establishing our comittment to ignore?

Therefore... perhaps we should make "Ignore Points" self inflicted...

If you're feeling froggy...and you know you shouldn't post.. but you really want to...(like now) you could click on a few ignore points and that post would appear "faded" and people would have to struggle to read it.
