I guess down in San Francisco, the Sea Lions have actually sunk boats that they've taken over.

I find it interesting that the law seems to have tighter regulations on "use of force" to remove sea lions off your boat compared to getting an uninvited human guest off your boat.

Unfortunately, sea lions are a serious problem and have lead to sinking several sailboats. The boats most at risk are the ones with an open transom and swim platform, since up to a dozen sea lions can pile onto the cockpit in that situation. Full grown male sea lions can weigh up to 700 lbs., while the females can get up to about 200 lbs.

One remedy that works to deter sea lions is squirting cold water at them...for some reason, they don't like it...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
