The NYT interviewer seems to have a little trouble with a rather direct woman originally from the Lebanon. I find her type of directness refreshing.

My only thought is this: More people have been killed 'in the name of God' than for any other reason throughout history.
As for this lady and her comments, at least she has the guts to stand up and say that any religion that promotes killing is wrong. More power to her.

Personally I think the term 'Religion' has been abused for too many things past & present. Started reading the article and got as far as

I could probably be described as an atheist, ignorant ,etc., but I've never heard of any religion that does.
So I'm sorry, but I can't take a writer serious, who starts off with a statement like this!
