You want to lay blame, blame the incompetent crack head Mayor of NO, he was more at fault than the Bush Admin.

I agree with stillraining

What George Bush did do was sit back and say what a good job his FEMA director was doing while they were not doing a good job at all. That is the legacy of George Bush. Not having enough sense to see when things are going wrong and changing direction until it is too late

...............

Check your facts SK: Blanco declared a state of emergency on Aug 26th.

It's difficult to refrain from using the name Looney Left when confronted with such foofaraw. The actual Fox News article that provoked the screeds by the bloggers cited is here: Gustav Threatens GOP Convention Plans - America’s Election HQ. It seems to be nothing less than a valid concern for what could be a natural disaster. On the one hand, the Lefties want to condemn Bush, and all Republicans, for fiddling while Nola flooded yet seem to think that prior concern for the effects of another hurricane amount to nothing more than political posturing. You really can't have your cake and eat it too.

You'll note that Governor Jindahl has stated that he'll skip the convention if the hurricane threatens. He seems to have the notion that his job is more important than party politics. Or maybe he figures that Mayor Nagin might have lost the bus keys again.

You were really remiss in not mentioning the GOP-caused effects of Global Warming in producing Gustav. It's one thing for Republicans to invent the coriolis effect but to think that Karl Rove can summon up hurricanes at will? The man is demonic!

Rather than fixate on being taken seriously, an effort that is clearly not working out, perhaps the Left should settle for being beloved humorists. It's really not a bad gig and it results in people laughing with you instead of at you.

"Governor Jindahl has stated that he'll skip the convention if the hurricane threatens"

At least he has a reasonable excuse. Did you ever stop to think why so many other GOP officeholders arent going to the convention? Could it be that they know the national Republican party and its moron President are deeply unpopular with three quarters of the country?

Just wondering.

Pappy, you left out a word:
"You want to lay blame, blame the Democratic incompetent crack head Mayor of NO,"
Both the LA state machine and the NO city machine are Democrat, not Republican. When they did nothing for decades and let the city go under, it was very convenient to have a Republican to blame. Maybe they'd prefer to have NO nationalized and made a federal property--like DC is? Then it would be fair to blame the fed.
If every tourist and politician was required to send a box of rocks to NO before they complained about it, NO would be above sea level by now.

Hope you're in good shape for the storm, but don't you think that's a bit of a stretch on Ike and Hanna? Hanna's still only a Tropical Storm, and Ike doesn't hit Florida till next week.

I certainly see where you're coming from but tell that to the people that will have flooding and falling trees, etc.... A TS is still capable of plenty of damage. Easley would not have declared a state of emergency otherwise. It will not be Gustov... but it will be Hanna.
