I hope that this storm fizzles and no one is harmed by it... Human lives at stake and all of that. I would not wish a storm on anyone.
I do find the irony quite amusing though and i'll be curious as to how the GOP will try to spin Gustov to their benefit. Here are a few links from various places... including Fox News.
Yup, it was Bush that didn't evacuate the city. Bush that diverted funds away from the levees, and of course, it was Bush that turned a disaster into a political gotcha.
Did the Feds do anything right down there? Not much. But to try to blame it all on one person, one person who had no involvement, until after the damage was done, is pretty weak, if you ask me.
The mistakes were many, the blame though, somehow was only attached to one.

Yes, Hurricane Katrina was a natural disaster that impacted many lives. Some very key issues as I see it (my oppinions only)...
- The weak and under sized Levies was known since 1960.. Local writers in the N.O. area had wrote about this for over Thirty Years...
- President Richard Nixon agreed with the local Army Civil Engineers and wanted to divert additional funding.
- They were sued by several environmental groups (who expressed concerns about additional levie construction and the impact on marine life- including the shrimp)...
President Nixon and the Army Civil Engineers caved to these groups... So, who won? The environmental groups- (very few if any actually from N.O or LA)... Suspect (speculative on my part that many were from CA, MA NY and the like)...
So, outside environmental groups may have won- but at whose expense? IMHO the losers would be the locals...
Just thinking about the Nixon era and what other events were happening at the time... Vietnam- Very unpopular military and perhaps not a fight the Nixon administration was wanting to make...
Is it George Bush's responsibility to go to N.O. and hold the hands of the residents and escourt them out of a hurricane region? Does not the Local and State leaders bare that burden? It was clear to me that both the mayor and Governor were clueless and also unprepared... They live in a hurricane region and are actually below sea level, which means they have the responsibility to know the hazards and have the plans for such... I do not expect George Bush to plan for freezing winters and provide snow plows and utility workers as well as a means to help people locally. That falls on local leaders... Last years snow storms paralized many cities and some were unprepared, yet NY was prepared. Many cities wanted NY to give them there Salt, etc because NY was prepared and those cities were not.... Like NY leaders stated, " You do not buy salt, etc in the middle of a storm... Rather you buy what is anticipated when its cheap during the summer time"... Thats what I call City Planning.... Living in CA for over a decade, I became very aware of earthquakes and was glad my local and state Government actually addresses being prepared and does so via numerous venues...
As boaters, are we not expected to look at our boats, the area we sail and also make preperations? If we fail to do so, I guess we can blame the boat manufacturer, the coast guard, and anyone else...
What is great this time in the Gulf region is there is better state leadership... A different Governor who is a take charge governor and not one who sits idle and clueless, using the (lets blame Bush for our hardship).
In ALL, I do hope the storm does not cause much if any devastation to that region...

Nope, i blame it on the entire Bush administration... and so does McCain.
McCain says U.S. government failed New Orleans
Sen. John McCain blasted the Bush administration and all levels of government Thursday for the failed response to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
"We know we didn't have the right kind of leadership ... where government agencies were getting information from watching cable television rather than have a flow of information," McCain said during an event at Xavier University in New Orleans.
