Charlie Rangel, the tax cheat you don't hear about......
though I'm sure that being a Dem has nothing to do with it.
Mr Rangel, after being forced to reveal $75.000 in unreported rental income, over a 20 year period, on a Dominican resort property (for which he was charged no interest on the mortgage for 10 years), claims he was unaware the income needed to be reported as income.
While this might fly for some people, the fact is, Mr Rangel, as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee is in charge of tax writing. This, combined with the already progressing Ethics investigation into his use of rent-controlled housing in New York City, and his assocition with the resort developer who has contributed to a fund to build a university library in Rangels name, is only worthy of mention in the New York Times in their Regional news.
One has to wonder when comparing this apparent lack of interest in what should be major news, with the MSM coverage of Sarah Palin, or even Ted Stevens. Heck, Livingston got more interest just for the way he takes a leak.
