The circle of life...

So here I am in Wyoming, (never mind what city)...but it's desolate, desert, void and nothing around other than hills, brown dead grass, railroad tracks, oil rigs and Halliburton SUV's moving up and down the high way. I've been to Wyoming before, other places, but never like this... ah..there's a Wallmart...where I spend my evenings after work...sad life mine here after work...I had dinner at IHOP yesterday..either that or McBurgers which I don't eat..

If the word desolation and desert ever had any meaning to me...it's reinforced now..

My only chance at having a life is while at work...but this morning was funny..they shoot everything here...guess that once you live so far from an ocean, the only thing one can do is either go to the Wallmart, or shoot things...(seating by the road watching Halliburton's cars go by isn't very funny)...

anyway...today I spent the whole morning seating in front of a computer, where several of the locals showed me, on the internet, the noises Elk and deer make when the want to mate..it's called buegling...and it sounds scary..poor animals...they're clearly saying:

"shoooootme...get me out of this misery.....why wasn't I born in Maine?"......

YAHHHHHHKU GRUNT GRUNT GRUNT......

Anyway..it started because guy here told me....."I shot a cow"...

So there I was...wondering what would drive a man to shoot a cow....and imagining in my head a guy shooting a black and white milk cow...'

Well they call the Elk females cows, and the males bulls....

thought you needed that infornmation to make your day go by faster....

By redneck cell count is increasing....

Cows....ehehehehehehe

CLICK for an interesting thing...OR HERE...for the real thing

PS..all of their cell phones here don't ring..they all bugle....weirdos...

Giu,

This is very helpful information. Much appreciated. Things are picking up here...

P.S. Those elk ARE really big. I've only seen them a few times, but they look nearly as big as the moose I've seen in Maine. And they do make a lot more noise with all their calling. Have you seen any yet?

P.P.S. Enjoy Wyoming, but consider stopping in Annapolis on your way home and we'll take you out sailing!

Giulletta,

Is that your boat? Wow! Nice! Oh about those Elks and stuff and walmart. Here in Texas we have the same thing happening, except I am close to water (YEAH) and they shoot deer and dove! So don't feel bad! At least you have a nice boat to sail off in when you want to get away from those Walmart shopping Elk hunters!

When I lived close to West Virgina (where I grew up by the way) after I retired - every time we drove back there I could feel my I.Q dropping as the odometer crept up and we got closer and closer to the state line.

I swear my plumbers crack got more observable too, but fortunately I was sitting on it.

Is Wyoming the same?

tommays will become famous soon enough
If you want to really understand "desolate, desert, void and nothing"then sit on your motorcycle for 3 weeks and ride there from Ny

The 1000 miles of corn gets a bit but once you get into the area there are so many national parks large and small like Jewel Cave and Wind Cave you will see a lot of things for the first time

Riding through normal kind of stuff and coming to the bad lands makes you wonder how they every made it through in the old days

Now not hitting all the stuff they shoot is a bit tricky on an motorcycle as the Buffalos are a bit nasty

Dry dry Wyoming

Giulietta:
If you are in/near Casper, suggest you contact the yacht/sailing club. As nice and hospitable a group as you could wish for. The sailing (on a mountain lake) is different, but the fellowship is outstanding.
I have greatly enjoyed your wonderful historical tours, and so want to reciprocate by pointing out that history in Wyoming, while different, is fun. It is all recent. A few years ago I cared for a lady whose grandmother was the first caucasian lady in her 4 county area of Wyoming. Fascinating to listen to her relate "living" history. The tracks of the prairie schooners are still present in the dirt. It is worth looking around.

I drove truck all over up there dragging various bits of oilfield crap up and down the hills. The high plains deserts are some of the harshest, most boring places on earth, kinda like the Russian Steppes. You can have it.

Ahhh..lunch time...watching Elk burp really makes time pass fast...

Poached eggs with bread...nearest food place is 15 miles away...so they got me an egg microwave poacher a loaf of bread....

I saw a train today...a a bird....and 3 planes passed by..way up...

I got really pissed off..I could hear the passengers laugh at me as they looked down....and I am sure, well almost sure, a guy in seat 24G was imitating a mating Elk just to piss me off..but the distance was deceiving, it could have been the lady in seat 34B that had a bowl movement.....

What about some of you guys sending me some photos??? I need to brush up photoshop....
