Bob Barr for President

This bail out has me hopping mad. Once again we're going to reward crooks, liers, and bad business men. I'm really considering voting for Bob Barr. I just feel that voting for another republican is throwing away my vote. We keep hearing promises that just get broken.

Get rid of the Dept of Education. Lets pass the largest federal intrusion in to local schools since bussing.

No more nation building. Lets run up billions a month in defecits rebuilding a nation that is adding to it's surplus.

Free the markets of regulations and let them work out they're own fixes. No bail out one business after another then jamb a huge debt on the American people to finance the largest bail out ever conceived.

This is on top of record defecits and the largest expansion of intittlements in decades.

I'm thinking more and more that it's time for a politcal party or two to fail. This has become a question of wether you blue or red lip stick on this pig.

Dan...you know if the reps had congress and could be counted on to stymie Obama for the next 4 years...I'd pull that lever too. As it stands...full Dem control of everything would be even more of a disaster and voting for Barr would only insure THAT and nothing else.

Cam, I heard that four, eight, twelve years ago. The republicans had the trifecta and still didn't deliver on they're promises. Now They're adding insult to injury with this latest move.

Think of all the businessmen who put off gratification to pay down they're debt and replace they're equiptment. Guys who watched as they're competiters went out and bought new boats and bigger houses. Guys who went to Branson MO, rather then the Bahamas. They should be getting they're rewards in the form of more business as they're competiters go bankrupt. Great deals on equipment.

The republican party should by all acounts know it's in the dog house already. There is a better then adverage chance McCain will lose no matter what happens. The House and Senate are going to go more Democrat anyway. You going to have to come up with a better reason then the Dems will make a bigger mess of things. The Reps are making just as big a mess.

It getting clearer and clearer that one or both of the parties needs to be wiped out. Then whoevers left standing may figure out how to listen to and really work for the people. If things stay the way they are now we'll be stuck voting for the same bunch of crooks, just another name or two amongst the same crowd.

Dan...if Obama pulls way ahead by election day, I will register my protest as you suggest. Failing that...I will vote to make the gov't crippled to act.
We can't afford Obama's Supreme Court picks or Social Programs and that is worse than voting for McCain as we will pay for THOSE decisions for WAY beyond the next 4 years. So...I agree with the sentiment...but not the couse of action.
How about we ALL agree to vote anyone who IS in office today...out of office in November? Pick a libertarian or a green candidate or anyone but the incumbent. Maybe THAT will send a message.
Throw the BUMS out!!

Ok, I'm in...
I'll get ACORN on the phone this morning, we need to start a voter registration drive.
I'll do just like my rep wexler does, and hire tour buses filled with bagels for the trip to the polls, and wine for the ride back...
We can do this.

While it would be nice to think one man could change things, that just isn't the case. As long as holding public office is a career choice, and a rather lucrative one at that, rather than a civic duty designed to fulfill it's constitutionally mandated functions, government will continue to grow and intrude further into our lives.

I think term limits have to be looked at, not because they are the best, or even a good solution, but because, at this point, they are the only way to make a dent in the situation.

What also needs addressed though is how appropriation legislation is passed. If you're writing funding for Defense, then that is all that should be in there. The practice of inserting non-related items into "must pass" bills is how spending gets out of control. And allows things that would never be passed on merit, get passed by stealth.

The problem in Washington isn't lobbyists and special interests. It's the power that comes with incumbency. That's what the money pays for. You get a Ted Stevens or Charlie Rangel, not because they are necessarily bad people, but because they have the power to make things the money givers want, to happen. And that power comes from seniority.

So, no, I wouldn't vote for a third party candidate. It really does only help the person you least want to see win, get elected.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

We're going to need some duct tape, a case of beer, an issue of Popular Mechanics, and some chap stick! Let's do this!!

In all seriousness, I've thought of writing in Ron Paul as a protest vote. I live in the People's Republic of Maryland, so voting Republican is pretty much a throwaway vote anyway.
