That's why the whole thing doesn't pass the smell test. The American citizen has seen them take various preemptive actions over the past tow months that have accomplished just about zero. SecTreasury asked for authority, never to be used, to bail out Fannie and Freddie and the ink was barely dry on it before he pulled the trigger. Most of us rubes have the age old rubric, "don't throw good money after bad" running through our brains virtually non-stop.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Two things are clear, there is going to be pain for everyday people, no matter what Congress does about this economic problem. And they don't have a clue whether this will actually make that pain greater or lesser. They just plain flat out don't know. But we're suppose to trust them?

If this was such a great solution, they wouldn't have to add all the "sweeteners" to get it to pass. Very few would oppose it, if there was any level of creditability that it would do what is claimed.

A big part of the problem is the failure of trust in our leaders that has developed.

Everyone that trusts politicians to do the right thing, hold up their hand.

Something sure got pulled out of something, I think, but I don't think a hat was involved.

It's not just the leaders that aren't trusted. Government itself no longer is.
