One legacy of Obama, win or lose, is that the public financing of elections is over. No one will stay in it after this election.

Rightly or wrongly, McCain went against his own party to try to lessen the influence of money on elections. Obama, in his own selfish interests, just made it more of a factor. Reform we can believe in ..... I guess.

Something I've been noticing over the past few days, as the pundits weigh in with their endorsements, is the use of phrases such as: Take a Chance on Obama, A Leap of Faith, and Don't Worry about his Record, He Won't Govern Like That.

After weeks of hearing what a crisis we are in, we should now, Take A Chance, on a totally unproven person?

We won't lose the right to free speech, we'll just be too afraid to use it.
The media did not put Joe the Plunger under a microscope because he asked Obama a question; they put him under the microscope after McCain made him the focal point of the debate. Anything that happened to Joe is on John McCain's head (McCain has since apologized to him). John McCain didn't bother to fact check; it's only in Joe's fantasy world that he makes $250k a year and therefore would have his taxes (which he apparently doesn't bother to pay anyway) increased.

If Americans were logical, after the experience of Joe the Plunger, they should be properly fearful of McCain using them as a campaign prop, not of asking Obama questions.

If you can't see the irony of someone who doesn't pay their taxes complaining about a tax increase, especially since they would receive a tax cut unders Obama's plan, you have no sense of humor.

That was nice of McCain, Obama should do the same

He never claimed he made 250/per yrs and he also explained the property tax issue, I think you should do some research

I agree, we should fear McCain, but we need to avoid the socialist (BHO) for a president

There is neither irony nor humor to be found in any of this, mainly cause you don't have your fact together

Got a couple more interesting tid bits to throw in

Two Gay Guys in W. Hollywood hung a likeness of Palin and McCain outside their house, after many complaints the city finally got them to agree to take them down.

Meanwhile, two Collage student in Kentucky after seeing what was going on in W. Hollywood, hung a Obama likeness and were arrested and charged with a hate crime.

One more

Prop 8 here in Ca. is a constitutional amendment protecting traditon marriage ( Man/Woman) supporters of Prop 8 are being targeted by the opponents by picketing in front of homes and businesses with signs calling the supporters bigots and the likes

Don't you just love where we're headed when the liberal left is in control

WOW. I hardly even know where to start with this one. First, I don't know what you do for a living, but you obviously feel superior to someone who works on plumbing for a living. I hope someday very soon you need the services of someone like Joe.

The media was looking into Joe's records the minute that clip was aired on Fox. They wanted to discredit Joe in any way they could. The left leaning media didn't touch Obama's answer, but had a field day with Joe. I saw everything from "his name isn't even Joe" and "he doesn't even have a plumbing license" and "he's not a member of the plumbers union" to "this guy won't even pay the taxes he already owes". Good grief. The DNC didn't vet Obama this well.

If memory serves the taxes Joe was behind on was property taxes, not income taxes. Most people have their property taxes taken out of an escrow account at the bank when they pay their mortgage. Joe claims that he didn't know he was behind on his taxes, and it is possible because he doesn't pay the tax bill, the bank does.

It is in Joe's fantasy world that he makes $250K. It's in mine too. But he's looking to buy a plumbing company, and I can tell you, there are several plumbing company owners in the Kansas City area that make well over $250K. Not all make that kind of money, but I know of at least two that spend more than that on their yellow pages ads. It sounds like you may have a problem with people making over $250K per year. If so, you have your sights set too low.

By the way, I would be proud to be a campaign prop for John McCain. Like Joe, I have big shoulders, I can take it.

garymcg, there is nothing about Joe that is germane to the question, ANY QUESTION, that he, or any other citizen would ask a candiadate who steps on to their property. The one and only reason we know about Joe's background is because of the answer he was given, not because he was somehow, unqualified to ask the question. It was a clear and definite attempt to draw attention away from Obama's answer.

Gonna be interesting to see who's priorities get met if Obama wins. Pelosi has already shown she wants to go further than Obama "claims" to want to go. And I don't see him using the veto if she does.

Obama's ties to Farrakhan

A former top deputy to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan tells Newsmax that Barack Obama’s ties to the black nationalist movement in Chicago run deep, and that for many years the two men have had “an open line between them” to discuss policy and strategy, either directly or through intermediaries.

“Remember that for years, if you were a politician in Chicago, you had to have some type of relationship with Louis Farrakhan. You had to. If you didn’t, you would be ostracized out of black Chicago,” said Dr. Vibert White Jr., who spent most of his adult life as a member and ultimately top officer of the Nation of Islam.

White broke with the group in 1995 and is now a professor of African-American history at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

Quote:
White said Obama was “part of the Chicago scene” where Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. and radicals would go to each other’s events and support each other’s causes
.

“Even though Chicago is the third-largest city in the country, within the black community, the political and militant nationalist community is very small. So it wouldn’t be uncommon for [Obama and Farrakhan] to show up at events together, or at least be there and communicate with each other,” White told Newsmax.

The Anti-Defamation League has denounced Farrakhan and his Nation of Islam as a “hate group.”

Farrakhan has called Jews “bloodsuckers,” “satanic” and accused them of running the slave trade. He has labeled gays as “degenerates.” In a 2006 speech, the ADL again condemned Farrakhan when he said: “These false Jews promote the filth of Hollywood that is seeding the American people and the people of the world and bringing you down in moral strength. … It's the wicked Jews the false Jews that are promoting lesbianism, homosexuality. It's wicked Jews, false Jews that make it a crime for you to preach the word of God, then they call you homophobic!"

Obama was careful to “denounce” Farrakhan’s comments – but not the man -- during the Democratic primary season earlier this year, but only after Hillary Clinton called him out for benefiting from Farrakhan’s support.

Farrakhan endorsed Obama in a videotaped speech to his followers at Mosque Miryam in Chicago in February. “You are the instruments that God is gonna use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth,” Farrakhan said.

He told the crowd that Obama was the new “messiah.” See Video: Farrakhan Endorses Obama, Calls Him Messiah.

The Investor's Business Daily TIPP tracking poll released today shows Obama with 46.7% and McCain at 44.6% — just 2 points separate them!

Remember, this poll was the most accurate poll in the 2004 election.

The poll also shows that almost 9% of voters remain unsure. this election has yet to be decided.

This totally goes against what I heard at the local Walgreens today, a older Black male behind the checkout stand told two younger black males ahead of me in line NOT to worry, that BO-Rock Obama had enough commented deligates to win the election..

Don't ya just love it
