The 44th President of the United States of America

That appears from our side of the border to be a very profound win for Obama. I think you are gonna have a pretty good President on your hands....history will sure record that as a significant event.

After we get past the part where he's biracial...exactly what history book are you already writing? Usually you at least wait until he's actually sworn in to office before you start declaring his presidency of such profound implications.

Without putting words into sab30's mouth, I think his "profound" and "historical event" statements were indeed about tonight's events, not about his presidency. Of course, I don't mean to speak for him, but that's how I took it.

Do you remember the peanut farmer? Do you remember that new dawn? When the cheering stopped, it clouded over almost immediately.

I hope this one is different.

This election will mean little unless Uncle Sam gets to grips with spending and borrowing.

Well, considering that "W" is currently an invisible president....and he's doing the best imitation of a hole in the ground I've seen by a sitting president, and is also a lame duck...Obama's election is kind of profound... the first non-Caucasian man to be president.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I originally sent this message to just my wife, but here you go.
"This morning I am proud to be an American. I am proud of us. Of you and me. Of the country. Proud that the tinted lens of prejudice has been set aside so that new ideas and new attitudes could be examined for their merit and accepted or not. Proud that a majority of my countrymen and women can have hope and faith enough to elect Barak Obama. Hokie? I guess. Just the same, I feel it."
My faith in the American people has been restored, in spite of the vitriol that has been spewed here. But in the end, Obama will be president of us all. Congratulations America!

52 to 47 is not a "profound win". LOL

Obama has his job cut out for him, and I don't think he's up to it.

He'll show his true colors within the first 100 days of office.

But - I can tell you with a very unique perspective, having been there and watched it, that he, Biden, McCain and Palin were all getting "briefings" the past few months. If you noted some changes in their speech patterns and how they presented things, it's due to those briefings.

During transition - eyes will be widened, people will learn and their thinking processes will be changed.

A President isn't just a clueless person when he or she walks into the White House with high ideals.... he will begin to realize, just as Clinton did, that the job isn't going to be as easy as he thought.

God Bless America.

So much for getting back to "civil discourse" now that the election is over ..........
