HTFU. The election is over.

From what I 've been reading in this forum it seems like some members are pretty down in the dumps with this election. I'm also getting the impression that some think just b/c one party has more members, that the other's concerns will fall on def ears. This is a people's government. If you feel differently than your representative, then send him a letter, phone call, email, whatever. I admire the effort that went into writing a letting to the Prez elect. Good on ya, and I appreciate you letting us read it. Just b/c a party won doesn't mean the USA is going to fall apart, the sky isn't going come crashing down on you, and your local representatives are still going to listen to you. I'm getting a sinking feeling that the Republicans think they are in some helpless spiral and have no control. My advice, HTFU and do something about it. Just b/c you don't control office doesn't mean you get to sit on your hands for 4-8 years and then blame the Dems for everything that went wrong. Goes both ways, Dems who blame Reps are just as dumb. Stop pointing fingers and making predictions of Armageddon, get this country back to where it belongs. There's a reason I stay out of OFF TOPIC, but I'm getting tired of clicking on "New Posts" and having to skip over the first 10 posts.

Ok, my rant is over.

You're right. The US won't fall apart.

I'm a pretty "hard core Conservative" and I think the GOP is fouled up. They will eventually figure out how to steer the course and get us back in the right direction. So will the Democrats.

My father is 72, nearly 73 years old. I spoke to him the other day and asked him what he thought. Just so you all know, Dad is a Korean War vet, has medals to prove it and has been a life-long Democrat. He voted for Reagan, and Bush. Hated Clinton. He has pretty much the same outlook on life, death and taxes I do. He believes in the Constitution, and supports the Bill of Rights.

It is people like him, me and all my family and friends who've seen a lot and lived through a lot who keep this country going.

Every person out there that works does their part.

Not one person, not even a President, can change the make up of America. It takes a LOT of people to do that.

This country has been 'invaded' by brainwashed scoundrels though, who believe and voice that capitalism has had its day. The old Soviet Union has raised it's ugly head recently and even today the Russians are making overt threats against the security of the US.

A day will come soon enough that whomever is standing in that Oval Office will have to look at the country as a whole and realize the world is a pretty bad place most of the time and he will understand that no amount of kissing up, or appeasement to dangerous foes will make them back off.

That President will either have to stand up, toe-to-toe and back those fellows down, or outright surrender.

Anyone American, worth his salt will stand there and stare them down.

Even Obama will have to come to that conclusion eventually.

It's American. It's the right thing to do.

And for those who might call that an "Arrogant American Opinion" - tough. It is, but it's right and true, and traditional.

Well said. You and your father sound like good people. Please send my thanks for his service.

Couldn't agree more. No matter who's sitting in the office, I'll never be ashamed to call myself an American.

Sounds fimilar, my dad ( life long Republican ) passed away in 2000, highly decorated WWII, Korean and Viet Nam Vet, He retired in 65' but was headed for Kawait during GW1 as clarical until my mom ( who passed away last month ), asked if he hadn't had enough, cause she sure had, so he stayed home.

I know what they're both thinking right now after last night, as a matter of fact, I'm sure my Dad turned and said to Mom " Well, that's a fine slap in the face "
