Rockter will become famous soon enough
SEMJIM :

In Scotland, they are moving to ban air rifles next.... I am serious!!!!.... then it will be crossbows.

One day, there will be nothing left to ban.

We will be no safer.

Beware Americans. It won't stop with assault rifles. I have heard that before.

Resist. The moment you yield, the banning list doesn't shorten. Another one is added to it.

Personally I would like to own a pistol here. I would not get burgled if I had.... so far three times, though to be fair, the law caught one lot red-handed.
In one incident, in 1983, two theiving thugs kicked my door in when I was in the house, in broad daylight.
They would not have come in if they though I had a pistol, would they?

Putting aside for the moment that civilians having such firearms was one of the, if not the major reason for the Second Amendment, don't think your favourite firearm won't be next. If you don't believe it, just look at what's happened in the U.K., where it is now virtually impossible to own anything other than a shotgun (holding no more than three rounds) or bolt-action rifle (the latter for which you must provide justification to own). Handguns or semi-automatic firearms of any kind are strictly prohibited. They have now added airguns and imitation guns to the list of restricted item.

Next the banners turned their eyes toward knives. These are also highly restricted. You are not allowed to carry any knife with a locking blade, for example. How handy would that be aboard ship, eh?

"Assault weapons" is a term made-up by gun-banners, btw, and means "whatever we define them to be at the moment". So today "assault weapons" are "military-looking things." Mark my words: Let them have their way and someday your 5-round-magazine, semi-automatic bird gun will be an "assault weapon." Someday your heavy-barreled, scoped, bolt-action varmint rifle will be a "sniper rifle." By that time handguns will be a thing of the past.

Jim
Jim is right. Especially with a Dem controllled Congress and Dem pres. The time to really stand up for our second ammendment rights is now. If law abiding citizens turn over our abilities to defend ourselves from the government there will be no stopping the restriction of other rights.
I feel a little better because I live in the South and it would most likely come down to armed conflict before most of us good old boys would give up our firearms. I feel sorry for those of you that live in some of the more liberal states. Good luck.

Rockter,
"They would not have come in if they though I had a pistol, would they?"
They may still have come in, but I doubt they would have gotten out.[vbg]

Those arent all military guns - They have on that list the gun I shoot geese and ducks with (an autoloading shotgun) and also the gun I use in the local trap and sporting clays leagues (an over-under and in no sense either automatic or military). Also the gun I use to shoot racoons, rabid foxes or other nuisances as well as my deer rifle.

I cant imagine that bill could possibly pass as it is. NY is pretty liberal as these things go but they would have a tough time enforcing that since there are so many of us here upstate who are already pretty well armed.

Not to mention that, but if they keep us from shooting deer they will multiply like rats and everyone will start bashing into them in their cars. On my road there is a pretty universal consensus about deer even among those who dont hunt - "Kill them all before I total another car when they jump in front of it."

i'm not too good with the legal jargin. but is the jist of it they are trying to ban semi automatic weapons? are all the weapons listed the ones being proposed to be banned.
i don't have any facts but i would think that most deaths/crimes with a gun are caused by people who didn't legally obtain that gun. so by banning or making it extremely hard for legitimate people to purchase firearms isn't solving anything.

Unfortunately, banning guns will leave the guns only in the hands of criminals... which is stupid... Besides, last I checked, the 2nd Amendment didn't put a limit what kind of guns you were allowed to bear.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

If I lived in the US..I'd have plenty guns...and shoot things...

I like to shoot things...I would be a member of the NRA also...

In my country we can't have guns...but criminals find them...

You can kill the criminals if they rob you, but only if you don't have a gun...

So I have a sword, and a big dog to bite their feet..

I do love guns...though....

GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE...the bullets do...ban bullets
