India - Mumbai

Woke up to this.....no details on who is behind it...I guess more will come in later in the day...

"as gunmen targeted luxury hotels, a popular tourist attraction and a crowded train station killing 80 people and wounding 250, officials and media reports say. Reuters said at least 80 people were killed in the attacks that began late Wednesday and continued into Thursday morning." SMH

Radio driving in to work said it was still going on , hostages taken, Indian troops getting ready to storm one of Mumbai's hotels where the gunmen are apparently holding hostages, said to be non Indian businessmen.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Some obscure Islamist group out of Pakistan is claiming responsibility. Oops, did I say Islamist? I'm sure that Islam has nothing to do with their motivations. Sorry about that slip up.

From the news reports I heard this evening, they were specifically targeting Brits and yankees.

TDW,

I've now seen multiple reports that the perpetrators arrived in Bombay by boat. Is that what you're hearing?

If so, I wonder if we'll see renewed interest in the "security threat" from recreational boaters in the future...

and rightly so John, have you seen the dangerous rabble that inhabits this board ? Gitmo is too good for them...

Seriously, this has been a terrible bloody event. Indians, Britains, American and Australians killed for seemingly no good reason by a bunch of malcontents who cannot conduct themselves in a civilised manner. Sad, very sad indeed.

Rockter will become famous soon enough
Best wishes to the Indian Special Forces.

They died in our defence wiping out the scum of this earth, and committing this toxin to the deeper dark.

No liberal hegemony there, I see.

No human rights drivel blunting their efforts.

Hindus to a man, or near so.

And men they were.

Take note.

Respect.

Men who are prepared to die to attempt to extricate the likes of me from some foreign hotel from the point of some Islamist gun. This scum would have killed everyone of they had not acted. I just hope they are around if it happens to me.

We desperately need men like that.... and they died too.

For us they died.

You want to think about that.

Anybody notice how the likes of NPR and the BBC are describing the perpetrators as Muslim militants, etc... and everything but terrorists? Wouldn't do to offend the religion of peace or, accurately describe them either.

Somehow, I've once again missed the widespread condemnation of these acts by the Muslim community at large, or it's leaders.
