in your face politicking on water...!!

I love sailing magazines .. all of them . such a nice cross section of our community , just great .learn something every day , enjoy every page . I pick up my "Blue Water Sailing" from my mailbox the other day , heading up to my comfortable club chair in my office , start reading ...and all of the sudden ,, like a uninvited guest , I'm looking a picture of a mast ..with a big fat banner across "OBAMA08" and a "article" below by Susan Merriman(who?!@) who find it" so great " to access the Internet from any place ..and she can "participate" in this nonsense we just endured ..hijacked by the one sided media called "election" .. and she just happy she can be"part of it" ..
Is there a place where we don't have to be soiled by this ? isn't part of the lure of cruising we can be with out political force feed ?
Why the earth we leave this off from our sailing life , and publications? why the publisher feel compelled to give a page to this woman ( who with her 5 minute cruising experience ..schooling Us ) about HER choice of candidate ..
help me understand why ?( I know the answer ..but love to hear what all of YOU think

Witch,
I ran across the same thing is a few sailing mags and it was off-putting. And I say that as the biggest political poster here and, admittedly, a political junky. Here on sailnet, I confine the politics to off-topic where they belong. As my friends here know as well, politics doesn't come up much either when there is sailing to be done. It really has nothing to do with my selection of friends or sailing partners either. But when it plastered across the side of a boat, or within the confines of an otherwise maritime article, then I have to deal with it. And I deal with it much the way I do with other "celebrities" whom force those views upon me in a theater where I could reasonably expect to be free of them; I do my best to ensure that they do not continue to have the economic wherewithal to continue their advertising..at least not my money! the problem is I'm being forced to see

by paid for my magazine , and now I'm contributing unwillingly but FORCED to see and read this "writer" flavor of the day "candidate" plastered across MY sailing magazine.. and the editor with a lock of taste ..or back bone (perhaps both)subject US with is winking to the PC crowd ..disappointing .. and disturbing .
Sailing is the only place left in the world with out forced marching orders, and with out dwarf intellects selling snake oil to the uneducated masses..
we need to keep this few publications free from that ..I wish !

Cruising World editorialized about the melting polar regions and the inevitable rise in sea level. Very dogmatic.

Your not "Forced to read it"

Call them up and unforce yourself to have there adds delivered to your mailbox....

then give the man a chance...As my ADMIRAL SAYS...and we will see if this gets me a time out......."On the 20th of Jan we can see if he is more than just black".

Our Thoughts

traveler you missing the point ...

Traveler , you wrote

"then give the man a chance...As my ADMIRAL SAYS...and we will see if this gets me a time out......."On the 20Th of Jan we can see if he is more than just black".

Your missing the point ...I don't want to engage in the election BS . I don't want to read in the sailing magazine a full page of PC bull **** from Miss Merimann.. ovulating about her ability to plaster her voting over the boom , and in my Blue Water sailing ! I don't want her or any body's choice forced an me .. not in these very few island of independence !

and about your sentiment "giving a chance" .. you don't give a chance to dictator in a making .. less you like to be told what to think, do , and how much you allowed to keep of your income ...
he will not Give YOU a chance just watch !

blt2ski will become famous soon enough
While I do agree on the no politicing in certain area's, ie forums for one, my pleasure's of relaxation, sailing, snow skiing among other things,...........

Not sure the new dictator to be can be any worst than the current dictator or facist leader we have now! Again, this all depends upon you point of view. Just stating my political view!

Sailhag, are you at signature? any 36.7's in?

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
