Ick!!! What happened to the beer?

I took a month or two siesta from beer. Bought a 12pack of Coors. Worst beer I have ever tasted! Tastes like Bud Lite. What the heck happened? It didn't used to be this bad. I know I am not imagining things either. Gotta order some more packets for my beer machine or something. I wouldn't even feed this to my dog!

Gotta agree with Sapperwhite and frankdrebin: Coors really isn't very good beer. It used to be cool to drink it when I was a younger man, because it wasn't commonly available east of the Mississippi, but I eventually grew up and found out what Real Beer tastes like. (I had to laugh when Coors first came out with Coors Light. Coors was already a light beer.)

Most nationally-distributed, big-name beers are pretty damn poor, in fact. There are a couple that are tolerable (Sam Adams comes to mind), but that's about as good as they get: Tolerable. To get good beer you have to find a local micro-brewry or brew pub. Or make your own.

Same with coffee. The stuff you get in supermarkets is nearly universally execrable. To make truly good coffee, you need a fresh-roasted, whole-bean Arabica varietal that you grind just before brewing. That means a local roaster or roast it yourself.

I was going to say, you should probably go with Sam Adams or a local micro-brew... but Jim beat me to it.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Alaska is not the place to be a beer connoisseur. Sam Adams is 8.99 a six pack. (and I really don't think it is that much better to justify paying any more for it than any other domestic cheap beer). Coors was 12.99 for the 12 pack. Imports can be 10.99 for a six pack up here!!! I was doing alright with my "Beer Machine" but its too cold in my kitchen & house during the winter to get proper fermentation. Maybe I could take it to work. "Seriously boss, I'm not drinking it here... just fermenting!"

Y'all need to make your own beer.

That "beer machine" someone mentioned is just barely "ok".

Personally, I'd get a book on it if I were you guys, and make what we call an extract version.

Even that is better than most commercial beers.

With the noted exception of Guinness (I like stouts myself) most dark beers on the market aren't that good. Guinness in the states is no where near as good as it is if you get in in Ireland either (maybe it is the fact you have to travel there that makes it taste better... but I think there is something different there than here in the states).

I made a batch a week ago, kegged it Saturday and it should be ready to drink - oh probably tonight. Be better if I wait another week or so, but it is going to be just fine tonight

Yeah, Sierra Nevada brews are often tolerable-to-decent. I've enjoyed Blue Moon beers. (There are other <fill-in-the-blank> Moon seasonal variations, such as Honey Moon.) Believe-it-or-not: Costco had (has?) a very good German Oktoberfest brew on their shelves.

You should be able to find something decent. Geez, even Molsen's or Labatt's would be an improvement over Coors.
