Big Freakin' Skis

There appear to be quite a few sailors around here who also ski/board in the off-months. And that's pretty freakin' cool if you think about it.

So - why not a thread celebrating our collective time off the water and on the white?

Shred it up and throw it down, baby!

hard white stuff

I don't know if a thread is needed but I am headed to Big Mt. in Montana the first of February. My break before it warms up enough to begin spring prep.

Mark - that sounds like a BFSki to me, dude. Do you board or ski? Or by hard white stuff do you mean ice skating?

Smack,

Glad to know you had a good time. You buddy?!?!?! SD has been missing since you left to go skiing too, so folks are trying to figure out if you're one and the same! or if you two headed off together? LOL

Not sure you two would get along! LOL

Was up last saturday, pretty good skiing. This week, could be really ugly! been raining big time in the cascades, avalanche hazard is something off the scale. A local area had a combo mud/snow slide go down the main run and take out some poles, a home etc. I'll find a link to king5news.com and the pics. Amazing. Reminds me of a avalanche that came off a mtn just north of this area from 6800 down to 3000', taking out trees and all sorts of stuff along the way. Also during a right after mucho amount of snow, then a pinapple express coming thru!

My ski school has been caneled the last two days due to NOT being able to cross any of the pass's. I5 south of me to Portland Or is closed, water 10' over the road.

Hope things quite down by the weekend, and we are able to get the weekend lesson goings.

Marty

Hey Bluto,

Yeah - after Xort's cryptic comment, I did some digging and saw where Dog got into it with someone and got edited. Who knows - maybe he went to "the cooler". Of course, I'm on his ignore list - so you'll have to ask him. But, alas, I wasn't sitting out a ban - I was skiing in some KILLER powder at Wolf Creek...

Midway Base Depth : 101 inches

Last 7 Days : 36 inches

Latest Storm : 36 inches

Year to Date : 238 inches

It was great. Our 8 year old bit off his first black diamond (this being his 2nd ski trip) and our 4 year old started working on turns with Dad.

I also got in some quality time with some crazy-steep bump runs. It was freakin' beautiful!

I hope your weather cleans up and classes get back on track. That sucks. I was an instructor for a season in New Mexico - and loved it. It was really cool dusting off the teaching techniques with my two little dudes. Good times!

At the condo...(that's a picnic table the kids are playing on)

On the way up the mountain...

At the top...

Beautiful shots.
I should be up in Vermont for about 5 days at the end of the month.
I will ski a few days at Sugarbush

Eventually it will be.
Just give it some time. I think the correct term is "apres ski"

SD got into a fight???? The one and only who corrects everyone about old threads and everything???? I'm shocked, that sucks.
