Revisiting Old Threads

This is the only forum I know of that discourages people from contributing to old threads. Most forums will not allow two threads about the same topic to exist. If an old thread addressing your topic exists, you must add to it rather than creating a new thread. This seems to make sense to me in order to avoid repetition and making searches easier.

However, here there are a few outspoken members anytime an old thread is revisited. What is the thinking behind starting a new thread instead of contributing to old threads?

SnB, float an oldie if it's got good stuff. Don't worry about it. You're absolutely right about the repetition and search issues created by multiple threads about the same subject.

Sn

do whatever you want, really...start a new one, or revive an old one..

To avoid remarks from some members here, state that you know its old, but you would like to add something..

I keep reviving old ones and no one says anything to me...

Sn, It used to be a bit of a hobby horse of some members around here, but things have relaxed a bit now i think.

The original problem was that someone would have asked for crew for a Pacific cruise in 2001 and a Captain nitwit would get on here and reply 7 years later saying they would love to go....

After a while around here that would get annoying.

Sn,
Do whatever seems appropriate in each case. For the record, I agree with you and the advise offered in the replies above.

CLASSIC !

I agree, sometimes it makes sense to revive an old thread. I particularly like it when an original poster pops in to tell us how things turned out.

Especially when you know that Cal21's are never offered for sale; you have to steal one from an owner.

I thought they give them away if you buy the trailer?
