Fighting - Because I'm a sailor
I just got back from the bar. I was wearing my baseball cap with a sailboat and anchor on it. While at the bar talking to my wife some mouthy 20 something was making jokes about my hat and insignia. Knowing he was drunk I paid no attention, figuring he would just go away. Wrong. He was itching for a fight. He had a few more beers, and got closer to us and started asking my wife why she would spend time with a guy that moves at a snails pace. Instead of a real man moving and shaking at 100kph. Of course she just turned her back and tried to ignore him. At the same time I'm burning up, one for talking to my wife, two for trying to belittle me, and three thinking that a power boat is more impressive than a sailboat. You see I'm a Canadian, and I have played hockey all my life, nuf is enuf.
He finally put his right hand on my wife's left arm. Insults and innuendo is fine, I can handle that (within reason), but touching my wife is a different story. I got off my chair, asked him politely not to bother us. And with fist clenched, put my hand other hand on my wife's shoulder to move her in my direction. Not surprisingly he rejected my attempt to rescue my wife. Saying "hold on a sec", at that point I planted him with a straight right, left cross, and two more rights. He was down and gasping, spitting and swearing. He scrambled to get up when I kicked him square in the ribs, and jumped on him holding him by the throat. I put my mouth next to his ear and without hesitation told him if he moved I would rip his larynx out. I was out of control and worried that I would do something that I would regret. Luckily my years of military combat training took the better of me and he was released.
The bouncers came in, removed him from the scene and asked me and my wife if we were okay. Now that's kinda weird, but my buddy owns the bar.
Bottom line, don't mess with a sailor and don't touch his wife.
