How Long before you decided to go back to work?

A couple of times I have been laid off and I sat at home for a couple of months (the longest was four months) before making one phone call and went back to work as a Captain in the Oil Fields in the Gulf of Mexico.
In order for me to do this I keep a bit of money in the bank to live on.

Now how many of you have set at home relaxing before deciding to find a new job? Relaxing means I wasn't worried about finding a new job.

I'm relaxing at home right now, not worried at all about when my next job will come. The admiral and I put some money in the bank and are both on a planned leave of absence so we can fully enjoy our brand new crew member, a little girl. Life is good.

I have been on the boat and bumming around since December. Just last week I thought I'd look for new work and only 3 days later I have a contract in hand, only one more month of sailing before I go back into an office for a couple of months to stock up the cruising kitty.

I've been out of work for two whole days, first time in 30 years! Not in a hurry to go back, unless a really good opportunity falls into my lap. I'll start getting nervous AFTER sailing season.

I once took a whole month off, but I needed something to do. (I didn't own a boat then) I'll let you know in a couple of years how it feels to fix, build, or sail boats every day.
