How to remove a Tick

How To Remove a Tick

Bet it would work on dogs too.

Spring is here and the ticks will soon be showing in heads. Here is a
good way to get them off you, your children, or your pets. Give it a
try. Please forward to anyone with children... or hunters or dogs, or
anyone who even steps outside in summer!! A School Nurse has written
the info below -- good enough to share -- And it really works!!I had a
pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick.
This is great, because it works in those places where it's some times
difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head
full of dark hair, etc. Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball.
Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few
seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the
cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time
I've used it (and that was frequently), and it's much less traumatic for
the patient and easier for me. Unless someone is allergic to soap, I
can't see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's
wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she
couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately
called me back to say, "It worked!"

In all the years I lived in tick country all those matches/fingernail polish/soap/etc techniques didn't work.

Grabbing the tick and pulling it out worked everytime without complication.

Potentially dangerous advice....

See the discussion of this on Snopes.

I agree with seilak, after a tick gets really fastened on nothing works very well except just pulling it off manually being carefull to not leaving its head and treating the site with alcohol also watching for a couple of days for infections

Best way to remove them is to soak oatmeal with 100 proof liquor. Mix to a clump and apply. The tick should come off in 20 minutes or so and the proof of the alcohol will usually prevent any infections. Any heat applied just makes the body explode - the head will still be impaled. Please note, Lyme Disease is a serious ailment - in particular down south, get checked out. It is easy to cure in the beginning stages - not so much after it has afflicted.

You touch the butt with a hot blade, ya don't try to fry it, it will back it's way out though it may take it more than once for it to get the message

Whichever, but Lyme Disease is no joke. Too frequently seen here in central New York.

Tager,
Have you ever heard of using 1/3 white vineger and 2/3's honey mixed together and sipped to cure a sore throat? I have used this for years and although it tastes funny it really works, the vineger kills the germs and the honey help's it go down. It's also one of those urban legend's along with quite a few items known as grandma's cures. Even though they aren't as well known as some helpfull items they have a basis in fact.
The only reason I put items here is to help, that is all and if all they do is do a little good, what's the harm in all of that?
