Canadian healthcare system imploding

SASKATOON — The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association says this country's health-care system is sick and doctors need to develop a plan to cure it.
Dr. Anne Doig says patients are getting less than optimal care and she adds that physicians from across the country - who will gather in Saskatoon on Sunday for their annual meeting - recognize that changes must be made.
"We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize," Doing said in an interview with The Canadian Press

Sounds like she's a bleeding heart and quite possibly from the New Democrat Party. Our system works fine for the most part. Is has some flaws, but very far from imploding.

What's your point with your post anyway? Just curious.

Sounds like somebody is ticked off at someone else.

Our system is great! I get free healthcare any time and any place, it's great. I wouldn't want any other system, Canada is the best place to live.

We do have a great system...with some flaws however.

But, I get free health care and if I do have to wait 8 months to get a free MRI, I also have the option to pay a grand and get it done right away from a private practice.

Those american politicians that are opposed to the change are only showing the negative side of our system. The positives outweight the negatives by far.

I love the system here. If I "need" an MRI, it is done immediately; however, if I "want" an MRI, I'm put on a waiting list. All emergency procedures have priority over optional, discretionary, elective or whatever you want to call them, procedures.

There's plenty of wingeing and whining, esp in the media, about the downfall of Canada's health system....

But the reality is, when it's critical, this system goes into high gear and gets things done. Two years ago my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer... we went through surgery, chemo, radiation, all in double quick time. Drugs to combat the effects of chemo (each single injection cost $2400 - she needed one each chemo session) were 100% covered too.

We still hold title to our first-born... and I'm happy to say she's been cancer free for a year now.
