Girl Found in Shed
I am sure everyone has heard about the girl found in the shed. 11 YO girl abducted in 1991, found 2009. 18 years she lived there. Her abductor obviously raped her and she had two of his children. One is 11 and the other 15 (four years older than she was when abducted). That means she had the first child at 14 and likely pregnant at 13. The conditions she and her children lived in were a shed covered in a tarp for 18 years. She (and they) never went to school, doctors, nothing. 15-18 years locked amongst themselves with no outside contact.
It makes me sick even writing this stuff. Maybe it is being a dad, I don't know. But there are some crimes so hideous that we should have no mercy for. How can you show mercy to someone like that? SO what? He will spend the rest of his life locked behind bars? His wife too? Big freaking deal.
How do you let someone like that live? There was a time, not too long ago, that someone found out for that would never be seen again. I gotta tell you guys (and gals) that is what I would support. There is no place in hell too deep for those atrocities and the sooner he gets there, the better.
I say that some crimes should be turned over to the family for them to deal out the justice. The wrong he did was not to society, but to a little girl, her children, and her parents and immediate family. Why then does the state get to deal out the punishment - and CA is not exactly known for being hard on criminals. I say, after a quick trial and quicker verdict, take the boy out, handcuff him to a tree somewhere, and let the family decide what happens.
Sorry everyone. It is just hard for me to fathom that depth of evil. I am sure that after a cool off period, I will come back to reality and remember that we are a modern society and we should live by modern compassion and civility. But sometimes I miss the wild west.
