YEs TD,

There are a few BIG birds up here! some even with 7-9' wing spans! really!

Down south of F a few miles, we do not get that BIG bird style dump too much....fortunately!

i2f,

I have yet to go to a sailing style web meet up, but have done a few other types, ALL have been fun, with great people to meet and see etc.

The best part of forum member "get togethers" is putting a face to the login name. I belong to a few watch collecting forums. On one Panerai forum, one of the founding members and the real heart & soul of the community had a tragic Jetski accident which left him a quadraplegic. The community chipped in and flew him to the States (he being from Downunder) for treatment at a special clinic in San Diego. During his weeks of treatment, we had a giant get together at the La Costa resort. Hundreds of forum members attended from around the world, just to meet him in person and bring the love. We all had name tags with our forum "handles" printed on them and the whole night was a series of "Wow, so YOUR "LondonJoe", etc. It was an unforgettable time and an example of how these internet forums can be a source of meaningful real life friendships.
