Just curious if anyone else is following the murder trial of American exchange student Amanda Knox in Perugia, Italy. Once you get past all the salacious bits, it's quite an interesting case. Apparently, they're nearing a verdict in the next few weeks or so. It's been going on for 2 years now.

She is from my school. The case was all over "The Daily" here at UW, for a while following the murder. There was never a lot of evidence presented in the press, though.

She's hot. But she's a freak.

It'll be an interesting verdict. I think FN will be eating beans for a very, very, long time.

48 Hours did a program on her. Although I didn't catch the episode, I caught the investigative reporter on another show talking about the case. The 48 hour staff are convinced of her innocence. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

They already convicted one guy for it. Hard to believe he didn't give her up if she was involved. Apparently, there's a lot of conflicting evidence. Like her DNA is on a knife, but it's not the same knife that left a bloody print on the bed, stuff like that. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

From what I have read about the case I have an uncomfortable feeling about the process. I find myself wonder on what real evidence the charges were brought initially. The DNA evidence is very weak but could be twisted.

I have read a lot, and learned very little. It seems that there is very little evidence made available to the public. In my totally unfounded opinion, it was a professional hit. The girl is innocent, but depraved, and was out of her mind on drugs.

Looks like it's all over but the crying now. Amanda Knox was found guilty of murder and sexual assault and has been sentenced to 26 years along with her then boyfriend and co-defendant. The family has vowed to appeal. I'm completed surprised since it didn't appear that they had enough evidence to convict.

Assuming the appeal fails, she'll try for an international prisoner exchange which will allow her to do her time in a U.S. prison. If she's smart, she should try for a California prison since we're about to let all the prisoners out because we're so broke. She'll be out in a year.
