Just bought a digital camera

It is a pretty awesome camera for a point and shoot. Looking forward to learning how to actually take a good picture, as opposed to just pointing my cell phone camera and firing away.

Here are a couple of pics I took the first day. The new boy is a handful.

Cute kid!

These new point 'n shoot cameras have their limitations but are easy to use and take great pictues.

I got my wife one of the Sony T1's when the first came out and it still takes great pictures today. I got the waterproof case, so we can take it underwater.

Speaking of Sony my first digital Sony Cybershot DSC-W1 in 05 just broke it's AA battery compartment flap again.

Guess it's my fault for not buying one with a rechargeable battery. Hope Sony's improved their design since then.

Just remember that your camera (and cell phone) are not waterproof, probably not even water resistant, so a brief shower or a rude powerboat wake can be the death of it. My advice is if you are getting a camera (or cell phone) that you plan to use on a boat, is to buy a water proof unit. They dont' cost much more, although you have to look for them

JagsBch,

That is cool, were did you get that?

We use carrying bags for our phones, but we have still answered the phone in the dink and ended up dropping it into that teaspoon of water in the bottom.

In the past five years, I have been through:
(1) Sony F727
(1) Kodak EasyShare
(1) Sony P-93 with underwater case
(1) Sony D1
(1) SeaLife with underwater case
(1) Olympus SW 770 "waterproof"
(1) Olympus SW 1030 "waterproof"
and am presently shooting a Pentax W80 "waterproof".

The Pentax W80 is the only one of those cameras still working. "Waterproof" is Japanese/Chinese for "splash resistant".

I got the Pentax in November, and don't expect it to last a year.

Verizon they make them with a bigger speaker, the speaker is loud for the push to talk feature. I had tons of music on mine it acts like a jukebox in the water, perfect for sailors. Pics are not bad either.

I own the electronics store down the street from 2Gringos place and my daughter would like to personally thank him for her new braces ......

If ONLY there were an electronics store down the street.

These are all from the internet. Fed Ex'ing a simple letter/document here is $ 60. Packages much more. Import duty adds 33% to the price of the camera. So a "waterproof to 10m" digital point and shoot that costs $ 300 in one of the online NY stores will cost me about $ 500 by the time it floods and fails. And so far, they ALL flood and fail. I think ultimate answer is the Olympus Stylus SW waterproof camera with another $ 250 underwater case. A clear case, not the yellow SeaLife style. You need to be able to see the water getting into the case before it gets to the waterproof camera inside the case.

Heck, if only there were even a "street".

Have you seen pics of where I live? We run full time 4x4's and the nearest pavement is 4 miles up this dead end road.

Ah, but the water.......the water here makes it worthwhile. Oh, and the people of course. But who cares about that. We be talkin' hardware, heah...
