Posting ONLY in off topic?

I think since this is a sailing site, members should post at least SOME sailing relevant posts.

There are a few people who come here strictly to throw stones and stir up trouble. They disrupt any decent discussions here in off topic while contributing NOTHING of value to the sailing boards.

Do you agree the mods should put minimal limits to off topic posting?

I think people should post where ever they want to post. People are interested in different things. And maybe sailing will rub off on those troublemakers.

SW329xl is on a distinguished road
I think it is entirely possible that someone could be more of a lurker in areas where they don't yet consider themselves an expert. It would I think be foolish to encourage people to post for the sake of making a post. Someone could be here learning a lot from some sections, and feel open to participate in discussions in the OT areas. Maybe, as boats go in the water they may even have questions to ask on the sailing sections. One would hope that they could feel comfortable doing that.

jackdale will become famous soon enough
Some want political purity tests, others want racial purity tests; some want sailing purity tests.

I think the new post options pretty much solved the problem for me, I also like what they did over at A-S.

I've found that polls tend to cause the most trouble of all. Thanks a lot Xort - you troublemaker. Now go post something about sailing will you?

Wow.
Is discussion okay only as long as everyone agrees?

Sorry. If I wanted to be bored I would still be on my first wife.
Sometimes the political only posters are interesting, and an alternate take is refreshing.
As i said in another post, if you can't shut up an opponent, sharpen your argument and shut him down. If you can't, the problem ain't him...
it's you.

xort, you're better than this.

So what are you doing right now?

And do you include guys like PB in your cross hairs here? Are you going to boot him for posting too much in OT?

Let it go man.

I do think that one thing (and not the only thing) that AS got right was the authorisation thing for OT but its not really an option here.
