Bmw S 1000 RR

I mentioned the new BMW street bike on another thread. It's called the S 1000 RR.

I've done a bit of reading on it. To my know-next-to-nothing-about-bikes ears, it sounds like this thing might be as noteworthy as the BMW reps at the Auto Show claimed it is.

Here's a 14-15 minute Leno video on the bike (I don't know why the link shows up as if it's related to a '57 Buick):

(Apparently, shaping each of the two headlights differently is more about marketing than engineering. I hate that sort of thing.)

The asymmetric look is addressed at ~2:53 (no comment on the headlights asymmetry; the rest makes sense.)

Architeuthis is on a distinguished road
I've never cared about looks as I do not have to look at it when I'm riding...I guess maybe I should care more about looks these days, LOL.

It has been nice to see BMW leave behind all the BMW stuff, like the Boxer engine, and compete with the gloves off. It would be nice to see other companies do that.

It does prove that BMW can make a great sport bike and should be fun to see on the track.

I was at an unveiling at the local BMW dealer a couple months ago. I'm a fan of the looks but when they fired it up I have to say I was a little disapointed, it sounded like every Gixxer, R1, CBR etc. you have ever heard. On the race track I'll take my Ducati 1198 any day. Very close in performance out of the box to the Japanese bikes but sooo much more sexy!

As good as BMW is, I'd want to give it a few years to develop. They seem to be doing better in WSBK.

I work for an Aprilia dealer but we've decided not to carry the RSV4 this year. They've already got their first recall: new engine! You can get a great deal on left over Tuono's right now. I've got the first gen. Tuono and couldn't be happier; I think it's the best bike I've ever owned. Once they get the RSV4 sorted it's gonna be awsome.

Biaggi is doing a good job flying Aprilia colors in WSBK and has a chance at the title, at this point.

Aprilia is a good alternative to Ducati, less expensive up front and less expensive to maintain with no loss of performance.

How about a brand new, still in crate, '75 Norton 850 Commando; 11 to choose from:
