MODERATOR'S NOTE: This thread has been created by removing the VERY off topic drift from an OPs experience with his child and the SC police in the "cruising with children" forum. Carry on.

ah...more "reasonable cause " to find more reasonable cause...yes ,yer a good egg but thats not what were talkin bout here ,..its about what we fought the red coats fer ...unreasonable search and seiuzure...to have the power to stop someone and search their papers and ask how they make a living is not just doing their job. he was gonna try and peg you for a ticket ,bottom line to help pay the poor citry coffers..and thats an example "from the bottom" of totalitarianism...a simple microburst

."Apple is on the steering committee of REACT and in my opinion clearly ordered them to unlawfully search Jason Chen's home. This was in violation of California law, and now the DA claims they won't peek at the evidence .. yeah right! Due to the unlawful nature of the search all the evidence is now tainted. Gizmodo should pursue charges against REACT and Apple."

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that Apple did anything regarding the criminal case against Jason Chen. I would point out that Gizmodo says that they didn't know the phone was stolen when they bought it for $5000. This is obviously a lie... like anyone could be selling a prototype iPhone legally??? The California law is pretty clear on this.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

You might want to read what I actually wrote. I just said that there's no evidence Apple did anything to instigate the raid and that Gawker Media/Gizmodo had to be aware that the iPhone prototype was stolen when they shelled out $5000 for it. Oh, I forgot, I used two-syllable words, which obviously confused you.

If it was a Microsoft product rather than an over-rated cumbersome piece of consumerism that was at the center of the controversy, you'd be happily pointing out that it was one more example of Bill Gates trying to control the world.

Just curious, do you have some insight that proves APPLE did instigate the issuance of the warrant or otherwise influence the actions of the police in this case. If not, shuddup... if so, put 'em on the table.

I'd point out that I don't own an iPhone, and don't own an iPad...don't plan on buying either any time soon either. The reason I use and support Macs is that they do not have the huge security issues that Windows-based PCs have. I work with Windows-based PCs and servers and have to deal with those problems on a day-to-day basis, so I'd rather not saddle myself with them when not at work.

Again, the California law is pretty clear on this subject. The iPhone prototype was clearly stolen property once the anonymous seller decided to profit on it rather than returning it to Gray or Apple. Gawker Media/Gizmodo clearly knew that and their statement that they didn't know it was stolen is bogus at best.
