Drill Baby, Drill!!

What a disaster this is turning out to be for you guys on the Gulf Coast, my thoughts are with all of you. I get the feeling some of your cruising grounds may never be the same in your life times and that's no small thing.
As boaters we can get a sense of the scale of this spill when you contrast this against the mess an over fill of 2 ounces diesel makes in the marina, I get the feeling the general public just dosen't appreciate the full magnitude yet.
I find it incomprehensible that there is no contingincy plan to deal with this situation. What kind of bullshite oversite allows a well like this to exist without absolute fail safes in place? Amazing.
I for one would be perfectly happy to pay double for fuel to get rid of all these high risk off shore time bombs and more importantly accelerate the process of weaning us off the the oil tit.

The oil companys and the Federal government both need to get their acts together, especially the governement for being so laxed on the safety aspect...just another fine mess the government got us into.

We'll be drilling for oil for at least the rest of our life times, because getting all the alternative power sources up to speed will take a life time.

I'm just waiting for it to show up in Tampa Bay ........ in my mind it's not "if" but "when." It doesn't take much of an imagination to see it getting into the Baltic via Gulf Stream.

Rand Paul used the event to criticize Mr. Obama as being "unfair to American business" 'cause he was being too tough on the oil companies; WTF!

And why is Dick H. Cheney being so silent on this one?

Also here in Tampa Bay
The government the mineral mining service BP and the EPA should be ashamed of themselves. This has gone on to long. Can we please get the navy involved and get a manned submersible down here to look at this thing at eye view. Oh Wait! That would mean that Obama would have to actually do something. And we all know he's a racist. HE HATES AMERICA!!!
Sorry but we're screwed down here!
You think this is bad just wait until a hurricane comes through the keys. The alligators, birds, deer, and pythons in the everglades are going to be pissed.

Amazing. One and a half years into the Obama administration, and the government's completely incompetent response* to a major ecological disaster is Dick Cheney's fault. By that reasoning, the government's incompetent response to Hurricane Katrina was entirely Al Gore's fault.

Or, is the thread title somehow implying that the fault belongs to John McCain (I thought he lost the presidential election?)

Sorry, but despite the soft-treatment by the media, this is Obama's Katrina:

CNN: Oil spill response out of control

*By the way, I am not faulting the efforts of the USCG. Unfortunately, they don't have the resources to tackle a spill of this magnitude. The full resources of the federal government need to be brought to bear against this spill -- not just one small agency. Instead, Obama administration officials scold BP from the lectern, while the president shoots hoops in Washington.

I don’t know why everybody is so split on party lines, because a politician is a politician. They should all be fired.
