DHS can't make a decision....

Got a letter back from the USCG, unfortunately now part of the DHS...

I had applied to them for a citizen position on one of the recreational councils, and the response was quite telling.....

"...with the Secretary of Homeland Security making the final selection and appointment of members. Unfortunately, Secretary Napolitano has yet to make the 2010 appointments, and we do not know when they will be made. We also do not expect an announcement of the 2011 appointees before December 1, 2010...."

an appointment to a rec council...requires the Secretary of DHS' personal involvement...and she has not done this years??

Oh well,

Typical politics, it just means someone was mandated to have a "council" and someone else decided they didn't want to have one. And since they probably weren't mandated to appoint members by a certain date...sloppy legislation gave them an easy way to have the council, without having the council.

Politics as usual, but if the law requires that council and she has failed to implement it, you can have charges brought against her for misfeasance and malfeasance. As long as you don't mind having someone in that position bite back at you.
